Charlene Matthews' Obituary
Charlene Matthews, 77, of Mt Zion, passed away on Thursday January 21, 2016, in her own home with her loving family by her side.
Charlene was born December 20, 1938, in Decatur, to Charles William and Dorothy Jane (Kiick) Peebles. She married Jeffrey Matthews on July 14, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV. She worked at A.W. Cash Valve for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey; two children, Michael William (Patti) Cummings of Decatur and Michelle (Scott) Muth of Decatur; her sister, Lois “Butchie” Gray of Hammond; two granddaughters, Lindsey Riedel and Latrisha Cummings; her step-granddaughter, Heather Hodges; two step-great-granddaughters, Presley Hodges and Elle Hodges.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Charlene was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved spending time with her family, friends and animals.
Funeral Liturgy to celebrate the life of Charlene Matthews will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Homeward Bound or Humane Society of Decatur & Macon County.
