Charles Robert "Bob" "Boz" Mansur's Obituary
Decatur – Charles Robert “Bob” “Boz” Mansur, 84, of Decatur, died in his home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 surrounded by family.
Bob was born October 24, 1931, the son of Charles W. and Evelyn E. (Cote) Mansur. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and charter member of South Shores Christian Church. Bob worked as a letter carrier for 30 years before retiring and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. Bob married Nora Letha Heady in July of 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1983. Later, Bob married Sharron P. (McLemore) Merriman on October 30, 1986.
Bob was a wonderful husband, dad, granddad and great granddad who worked hard to be an exceptional provider for his family. Bob never knew a stranger or had a harsh word for anyone. That same personality could be seen on the ball field with his love of sports as an avid player and coach of his kids and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Sharron; children: Jodi (Mark) Ferriell of Decatur, Danny (Susan) Mansur of Decatur, Randy (Jane) Mansur of Windsor, CT, Tamara (Scott) Mansur-Ulrich of Knoxville, TN, and Blake (Cathy) Mansur of Decatur; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; step-children: David Merriman, Brenda Wilson, Mark Merriman and Gene Merriman; 10 step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Paul) Hutchinson of Westfield, MA; close friends: Bob & Nancy Peck and Fran Zimmerman; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Nora; one infant daughter and brother, George Mansur.
Visitation will be Friday, July 29, 2016 from 5 to 8 pm in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Services to celebrate Bob’s life will be 10 am, Saturday, July 30, 2016 in South Shores Christian Church. Burial with military rites will take place in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to: Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois or Alzheimer’s Association.
