Charles C. Collier's Obituary
Charles C. Collier, 77, of Decatur, died Friday, May 14, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born June 30, 1932, in Chickasha, OK, the son of Ernest and Dolly Walker Collier. A U.S. Army Veteran and member of the 549th AAA Battalion, Charles worked as a Conductor for the Norfolk & Southern Rail Road before retiring in 1987. He loved to garden, collect Rail Road memorabilia and was a member of Camp Wilson Foursquare Gospel Church. Charles married Joyce V. Tobro June 30, 1981 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Joyce of Decatur; children: Cheryl Lee Newman and Constance Maxwell of Texas, Brian Collier of Denver, CO, and Michael Candy Collier of Texas; step-children: Frank Pat Messer of Crown Point, IN, Diane Mike Blachuciak of Brookfield, Russell Donna Messer of Chicago, Annette Bill Johnson of Wheatfield, IN, Greg Stefanie Bournias of Decatur, and Maria Jim Izbicki of Plainfield; 24 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Collier; brother, Bill Collier, and sister, Ernice Pujol.
Visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2010 from 11 am until the service time at 1 pm in the Camp Wilson Foursquare Gospel Church, Harristown. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the U.S. Army.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at DMH 5th floor and DMH Home Health for the loving care and concern shown to Charles and his family.
