Charles A. Hall's Obituary
Charles A. Hall, 78, of Cerro Gordo, IL passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 in his home.
Charlie was born August 18, 1935 in Oakley, IL, the son of William E. and Edna (Adcock) Hall. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Charlie was a member of the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #0117 where he would go visit five days a week to play the dominos game “42.” During those same days at night, he was an avid Bingo player and loved playing other games as well. He was also a member of Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren, and a trustee for the Oakley Township. In 2007, Charlie was inducted as a member of the 2007 Illinois ASA Hall of Fame. He married Sonna Hamm on September 19, 1954 in Oakley. They shared 59 wonderful years together.
Charlie leaves behind his wife, Sonna; sons, Thomas (Heidi) Hall of Oreana, IL; Ted (Laura) Hall of Warrensburg, IL; brothers, Jerry Hall of Oakley, IL; Louis (Peggy) Hall of Macon, IL; William (Judy) Hall of Hammond, IL; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenna) Hall of Decatur, IL; Cody Hall of Oreana, IL; Stephanie (Brendan) Murphy of Larchmont, NY; Jared Hall of Warrensburg, IL; great-grandchildren, Ariana, Marlee, Landen, Tatum, Bentley, Avorie, one-expecting great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Hall; and sister, Linda Birch.
Services to celebrate Charlie’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren in Oakley, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be at West Frantz in Oakley, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Charles may be made to the Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren or to the Cerro Gordo American Legion Post #0117.
