Charles Harris' Obituary
Charles Harris, 75, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born January 12, 1941 in Tupelo, MS, the son of Curtis and Allene (Wilson) Harris. He was previously employed with Caterpillar, and retired with thirty-one years of service. Charles enjoyed gardening, watching westerns, and barbequing. He was a member of the John C. Ellis Lodge #17 A&FM serving as secretary and 2 terms as Worshipful Master, member of Menelik Consistory #49, Shriners KAMAR Temple #56. He married Nancy Smith on October 25, 1969. They shared forty-seven wonderful years together.
Charles leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Nancy Harris of Decatur; sons, Keith (Jo’ell) Harris of Grandville, MI, Tracy (April) Harris of Avondale, AZ; brothers, Henry Harris of Decatur, Willie Jones of St. Louis, IL., Bobby Jones of Chicago, IL; sisters, Darlene Jones of Chicago, IL, Jean Jones of Chicago, IL.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of extended family members, special friends Jim Billingsley Sr., Jim Billingsley Jr., Marty Watkins, and Ron Wilson.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, son, and two grandchildren.
Homegoing services to celebrate Charles’s life will be 11am Monday August 15, 2016 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. There will be no visitation prior to the services. Memorial donations may be made to the wishes of the family, C/O Nancy Harris.
