Charles J. Monroe's Obituary
Charles J. "Chuckie" Monroe, 77, of Decatur, died Friday, September 21, 2007 in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Charles was born June 8, 1930, in Lanesville, the son of Lawrence E. and Mae Simmons Monroe. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired from Mueller Co. where he worked as a supervisor before retiring in 1985 after 33 years of service. Charles married Betty Elson on November 1, 1990
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Decatur; daughters: Sherry Monroe and Brenda Monroe both of Romeoville; sisters, Laura Katherine Doyle and Mary Crosby both of Decatur; brother, Larry Tina Monroe of Mattoon and sister, Pat Dave Owens of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Graveside services with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be 1 pm Tuesday, September 25, 2007 in Camp Butler National Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Macon County Honor Guard.
