Charles L. Nihiser, of Decatur, passed away September 11, 2007, at the age of 79 in his home.
Funeral services will be at 10:00am Friday, September 14, 2007 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday, September 13, 2007 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery.
Charles was born on November 16, 1927 in Decatur, IL, the son of Kenneth and Lona Camp Nihiser. Charles served in the US Navy during World War II, and was also a Sea Bee serving time in Guam. Charles retired from the City of Decatur after 37 years and retired as Assistant Street Superintendent in 1989. Charles and Betty recently celebrated their 60th anniversary January 18th, 2007. He was a member/trustee of New Life Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of Macon, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife, Betty of Decatur, his sisters, Leona Carter, and Carolyn Brust, Sisters-in-law, Mary, Jean, Virginia, and Pat, 8 children, Jerry Donna Nihiser, Judy Eddie Cunningham of Macon, Janet William West of Mode, IL, Jeff LuAnn Nihiser, Jane Tracey Sumpter, Joe Julie Nihiser, Jill Pat McMahon, and James Brandy Nihiser, 24 grandchildren, and 23 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth, mother Lona Camp Nihiser, stepfather Bill Davidson, brothers, Kenneth, Keith, Robert, and Dale, sisters, Delores Knotts, also grandchildren Kimberly West, Michelle West-White, and Jonathon Nihiser.
The family of Charles L. Nihiser is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street.
