Charles Ralph Pinkston's Obituary
Charles Ralph Pinkston, 88, of Moweaqua, Illinois, passed away July 14, 2024, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Charles was born in DeKalb, Illinois, on July 6, 1936, the son of LeRoy and Genevieve (Busse) Pinkston. He married Lucille Alekner on December 26, 1964, in Decatur. Charles served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later became a sales representative for Sherwin Williams Paint and then worked for Appleton Machine in Appleton, Wisconsin. He returned to Illinois in 1980 to take over the Night Owl Bar & Restaurant in Macon, which he owned until retiring in 2001. In his free time, Charles enjoyed spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his wife Lucille; children Marsha Harrington of Racine, WI, and Michael (Donna) Pinkston of Decatur, IL; grandchildren Anna (John) Jesse of Macon, IL, Eric Edwards of Milwaukee, WI, Devin Pinkston of Moweaqua, IL, Macey (Devin) Smith of Noblesville, IN, Madison Pinkston of Windemere, FL, Brandon (Katie) Pinkston of Peoria, IL, Katie (Jake) Crosby of Decatur, IL, John Pinkston of Decatur, IL, Casey Pinkston of Decatur, IL, and Shaun Pinkston of Moweaqua, IL; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons Mark Pinkston and Joe Pinkston; daughter Kim Pinkston; and great-grandchild Oliver Pinkston.
Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Charles. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, August 11, at The Hall at Five-Twenty (formerly known as the KC Hall). Memorials may be directed to Cancer Care of Decatur.
