Charles Roy Rhodes' Obituary
Charles was the son of Roy Charles and Bessie Pink Dugan Rhodes. He came to Decatur and worked for the CB&Q Wabash Railroad, he was also owner/operator of Rhodes Roto-Rooter Sewer Service for 30 years.
As a young man he was a member of the CCC. He was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Boy Scouts Troop #17, as well as the American Legion Castle Williams Post #105, Aerie Eagles Lodge #507, and Loyal Order of the Moose. He married Edna Mary Van Middlesworth on November 24, 1939 in Michigan City, Indiana.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Stephen Rhodes wife Esther of Georgetown, IL.; Tim Rhodes wife Erma, and Mark Rhodes wife Carol all of Decatur. Daughters, Charlene Rhodes of Decatur, Annamary Kirkpatrick husband Tom of Macon; and Jenny Tertocha of Decatur. Brother, Donald Dugan wife Lillian of Effingham. Sisters, Haline Travis of Decatur, and Betty Ellison of Arthur. Nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His parents, son Charles Roy Rhodes Jr, three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
