West Obituary
Charles W. West, 87, of Mt. Zion, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 11:00am Monday, October 15, 2007 in First General Baptist Church. Visitation will be 10-11am Monday, October 15, 2007 in the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon with military honors. Memorials are suggested to First General Baptist Church, 2825 S. Baltimore Ave., Decatur, IL. 62521. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements.
Charles was born on March 24, 1920 in Bethany, IL, the son of William and Myrtle Webb West. Charles was a US Army veteran serving in WW 11. He was a member of First General Baptist Church, Decatur for 15 years. Charles operated an automobile repair business in the Mattoon and Charleston area, then later in Mt. Zion for many years. He enjoyed camping and traveling in the western states. He was married to Alvina West, she died in 1989, he then married Charlotte Hite on November 5, 1989 in Marshfield, WI, she survives.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte of Mt. Zion, three daughters, two step-daughters, two sons, three step-sons, 32 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and his first wife Alvina West.
