Charles K. Wieczorek's Obituary
Charles K. Wieczorek, 87, of Decatur, died September 11, 2008, at 4:36 pm, in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Cemetery, Stringtown, in rural Richland County. Visitation will be Monday, September 15, 2008, from 5 – 7 pm in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
Charles was born February 6, 1921 in Kuznia, Poland, with the given name of Kazimierz, to Antony and Josephine Zawodny Wieczorek. Charles was a laborer in a German labor camp for four years during World War II. He served in the English Army until 1950, when he was admitted to the United States as a displaced person. Charles proudly became a United States citizen in 1956. He was employed at Wagner Casting in Decatur for 29 years. Charles enjoyed gardening, playing chess, and traveling with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estella Wieczorek; his parents; his brother and sisters.
