Charlie H Rice's Obituary
Decatur-Charlie H. Rice, Jr., 93, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015, a home with his family at his side.
A service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2015 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Macon County Memorial Park.
Charlie was born February 19, 1922 in Brownsville, TN, the son of Charlie H. and Christine (Green) Rice, Sr. He proudly served for his country in the United States Army in World War II. Charlie was a member of Lebanon SBA Church. He was an outdoors person who enjoyed farming, working in his garden, and traveling back home to Tennessee. He married Alice Southall on October 3, 1995 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2011.
Charlie leaves behind his children, Edna Mae Rice Monk and her husband Bill, Christine Rice, C. Etta Rice, James E. Rice, Henry L. Rice, Patricia A. Rice-Stanley, Claude A. Rice, Mary A. Rice-Bates and her husband Leon, Phyllis Rice-Williams, Frances Douglas, and Willie Mae Brady; stepchildren, Wardine Bond and Evelyn Wynn, Rossie L. Rainer Minnie, Willie Rainer, Frank Rainer Lisa, Louise Brown, and Vergie Rainer; brother, Fred L. Moore; and a host of loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Charlie H. Rice III; daughter, Delores K. Rice Randall; and stepchildren, Alice Rainer, Lawrence Rainer, and Lestine Rainer.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at the VA Hospital in Danville, IL. They also like to give special thanks to Ruby, Carol, and Christy for their compassion and care.
