Cheri Rae Baker's Obituary
Cheri Rae Baker, 66, of Decatur passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in her home.
Cheri was born on September 17, 1946 in Decatur the daughter of Lavernon Gerald and Donna Mae (Tate) Baker. She worked as a home healthcare worker and as an office supervisor for Addus Healthcare for 30 years until her health declined. She enjoyed playing Wii bowling with her bowling team the 'Wood Chuckers'. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, collecting Bells and she was an avid bird watcher. She helped care for many children in her life and will be dearly missed. In spite of hardships including her stroke Cheri never gave up. Beneath her sometimes crusty exterior was a very kind hearted caring woman who was always truthful and thought of us a lot.
Surviving are her sister, Russinda Dennis; brother, Robert Constant both of Florida; special person who she treated like a son, Kenneth Hobbs; and treasured members of the brown family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and life partners, Alferd 'Bud' Brown and Harold Adkins.
We would like to give a special thank you to nieces, Leah Neideffer and Brittney Weatherford, all her home healthcare workers, and her friends at the Woods Apartments.
Memorial service celebrating Cheri's life will be 10 AM Saturday, February 2, 2013 in First Baptist Church of Decatur. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church of Decatur.
