Chester D. "Chet" Grunden's Obituary
Chester D. ”Chet” Grunden, 78 of Decatur, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 19, 2002 in his home, here in Decatur.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, October 22, 2002 in J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home, visitation will be one hour before service time. Burial will be in Old Stononigton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to DMH Hospice or Meals on Wheels.
Chet was born on October 31, 1923 the son of Herbert and Luella Dunn Grunden. He worked many years on the Illinois Central Railroad.
Most recently he was employed by the Illinois Department of Transportation before he retired in 1986. A member of V.F.W. Post #99, Chet proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He married Janice Peters on November 17, 1946 and she preceded him in death on May 03, 1990.
Surviving are his son, Kenneth Koonce Janet of Decatur; sisters: Ruth Adams of Las Vegas; Millie Shin of Georgia; grandchildren: Shelly Brown Jeff of Decatur; Melinda King, Kenneth and Chad Koonce all of Michigan; four great grandsons; special niece, Janice Fisher of Oreana; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His parents, wife, seven brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
