Clara L. Meara's Obituary
Decatur-Clara L. Meara, 95, of Decatur, passed away at 10:05 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014 in Imboden Creek Living Center surrounded by her family.
Clara was born June 18, 1918 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Esrom H. and Margaret M. (Michel) Pfile. She was a graduate of St. James Grade School and Stephen Decatur High School. She worked at Pfile’s Camera Shop and the Macon County Treasurer’s Office. She enjoyed working with flowers in her younger years, playing cards, bunco, bingo, and going out to eat with friends and family. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Clara married Glenn Hartbank, January 18, 1941. He preceded her in death. She then married Frank A. Meara, October 23, 1948. He preceded her in death.
She leaves behind her daughter Pat (Keith) Albaugh of Decatur, son Mike (Tracy) Meara of Ridgewood, NJ, grandchildren Trent (Diane) Moore, Todd Moore, Tammy Stoneburg (fiancée John Dougherty) all of Decatur, Brian Albaugh of Brooklyn, NY, Nancy and Megan Meara of Ridgewood, NJ, great-grandchildren Kaleb Moore, Hannah and Emma Stoneburg, Tyler and Charlie Moore, step-grandchildren Kevin (Barbara) Albaugh, Andrea (Paul) Albaugh, and Tim Albaugh, five step-grandchildren, sisters Gladys Potter of Iowa City, IA and Kathryn Bork of Springfield, brother Bob (Lois) Pfile of Midland, TX, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husbands, brother Leroy Pfile and sister-in-law Mary, brother Bill Pfile and sister-in-law Vi, brother Jerome Pfile, sister Geraldine Pfile, brother-in-law Hank Bork, and brother-in-law Frank Potter.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Keystone Assisted Living and Imboden Creek Living Center for all of their loving care.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Clara’s life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr, with Rev. Rick Weltin, Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
