Clarence Donald Wood's Obituary
Clarence Donald Wood 71, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield.
He was born June 10, 1941 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Hubert L. and Gertrude A. (Rathje) Wood. 'Woody', as he was known, graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1959. He graduated from Brown Business School and took various classes at Millikin. Woody received various community service awards for his dedication for many years in boys baseball at Hess Park in Decatur. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Decatur and the Elks. Woody retired from Firestone in Decatur after more than 30 years of service and later sold Rv's at Four Winds in Maroa and Jerry Pressleys Rv's in Decatur. Woody was an avid Chicago Cubs and Viking football fan. He loved his daily coffee and solving the world's problems with the Firestone coffee gang. Woody was a devoted member of First Christian Church in Decatur.
He leaves behind his loving wife Sue of 53 wonderful years; son, Christian Wood of Danville; daughter Dana (John) Allsup of Forsyth; grandchildren Erica and Evan Allsup were his pride and joy; best friends Darrell and Avis Batson of Hopkinsville, KY; sister in law Betty (Dale) Mise of Decatur; sister Barbara Robert of Hermit, CA to sister Sherry Conant of Wyoming and beloved dog Lacey,
In addition to his parents, Woody was preceded in death by his brother Leonard Overhulser

Services to celebrate Clarence's life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at First Christian Church 3350 N MacArthur Rd. Visitation will be 5 – 7p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at First Christian Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Donations may be directed to the American Heart Association or Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County.
