Claude A. Rice's Obituary
Claude “Son” Rice went quietly to be with our Heavenly Father early Saturday morning September 6, 2008 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
We are proud to say that we were blessed with our “Son” for 74 great years. He was born unto the union of Christine Green and Charlie Rice in Brownsville, TN, on February 16, 1934. At an early age “Son” accepted Christ and made a pilgrimage to Decatur, IL, where later in life he found his wife and soul mate of many, many years, Ms. Eula Mae. Unto this union together they had four daughters, and one step-son. Even though you may wonder at times “He can’t possibly be Blind”, he worked and supported his family through the magic of his hands and unique sound at Macon Resources until retiring after the death of his wife in 1987. He had extra hobbies from fixing on “odds and ends” to hauling furniture, singing, or just plain being someone you need in a time of need. He was a member of Church Of The Living God Temple #1 until health issues occurred in 1993. He then became a well-loved resident at Aspen Ridge Care Centre where he spent his duration always singing of “His” greatness My father never doubted the many works of God’s powers.
He leaves to cherish good memories; 3 daughters: Jimetha “Rochelle” Graves, Monique Rice and LaTonya Rice of Decatur; step-son, Michael Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; 13 grandchildren, special grandson, Rajiv “Hunnyman” Rice; one great granddaughter all of Decatur; brothers: Bobby Rice and Charlie “Bo” Rice, Jr. of Decatur; sisters: Mary Walker of Brownsville, TN, and Martha Reid of Milwaukee, WI; host of nieces and nephews, especially nephew: Charles Rice; other relatives and friends
Preceded in demise by his parents; wife, Eula Mae; daughter, Claudette Rice; two brothers, Lewis T. Rice and Mickey Rice and sister, Willie “Beck” Alexander.
Celebration of life service will be 11 am, Friday, September 12, 2008 at Church Of The Living God Temple #1; visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to: Decatur Memorial Hospital Doctors and Nurses in Intensive Care, Aspen Ridge Care Centre Staff and Deacon Robert Howard.
The family of Claude A. Rice is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
