Connie Lynn Manney's Obituary
Connie Lynn Manney, 101 of Decatur was born on March 30, 1905 in Morrilton, Arkansas passed into eternity at Decatur Memorial Hospital on Sunday November 12, 2006.
Homegoing service will be 11:00 am Friday November 17, 2006 in Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Hansbro. Visitation will be one hour before service in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Connie was born to the union of the late Maggie McGee and the late Samuel Green. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She served as a stewardess and was on the mission board at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in New Madrid, MO under the direction of the late Rev. William Bell. After moving to Decatur she became a member of the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She married the late Belvy Manney on March 19, 1924. They shared sixty-four years together. To this union four Children were born. She and her husband moved from New Madrid, MO to Decatur, IL in 1981.
Connie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to her family especially her husband who became disabled at an early age and needed her loving care for the remaining years of his life.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: two children, Mary B. McKinney and Thomas J. Manney Sr. both of Decatur, IL; one sister Goldena Brockman of New Madrid, MO; Sixteen grandchildren; Thirty-four great-grandchildren; Twenty-three great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
The family of Connie Lynn Manney wishes to thank all who gave sympathy and kindness during our time of bereavement. We thank the staff at McKinley Court for the care they gave to her during the two plus years there. The DMH nurses who gave her care in her last hours and the Chelp workers, and companions who made her last years at home more comfortable. Special thanks to Martha F. McClelland for the care she gave her over the years.
