Cora Paez-Green's Obituary
Decatur-Cora Mae Green, passed into eternal life on November 11, 2013 at Decatur Memorial Hospital at the age of 65.
Cora was born in Glendora, Mississippi on July 28th, 1948 to Homer Washington and Mattie Green. Cora confessed her faith in Christ at a young age and attended Church of The Living God PGT #3, until she was no longer able to. Cora attended Stephen Decatur High School, Richland Community College, and Mr. John’s School of Cosmetology. On her journey of doing God’s work, Cora touched the lives of many. She became a beautician, a certified nurse assistant and provided nursing care to others. Cora continued her service, for others, by becoming a foster parent. She provided refuge to many displaced children, in the Decatur community. Cora was a divine cook; she enjoyed holidays and special occasions with family and friends. Her home was opened to all that visited.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters: Lynette Green, Dawn (Phil) Stowell, Latoya Green, and Dominic Green all of Decatur, IL; son: Donyell Green of Decatur; siblings: Mable Green, Annette Green, Anthony Green, and Michael Green all of Decatur, IL; Special Aunt Martha Harris of Decatur, IL; Special Aunt Cora Mae Dale of Chicago, IL; Special cousin Debra Ann Terry of Chicago, IL; Special friends: Victor Paisant and Angela Copper both of Decatur, IL; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and other loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Mattie Green; maternal grandparents Josie and Willie T. Harris; Brother, Roy Green; Cousin: Willie T. Harris, Jr.; and uncles: Sylvester Harris, Jonah Lee Byrd, and James and Clarence Maclntee. Home going services will take place at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 18, 2013 in the Church of The Living God Temple #3,1762 E Prairie St.
Decatur, IL 62521. Visitation one hour prior to services.
