Curtis James Sears' Obituary
Curtis James Sears of Decatur, Illinois and Osprey, Florida, died May 16, 2005, in his home in Osprey, Florida. Visitation will be May 22, 2005, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with burial at 10:00 am on May 23, 2005. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois. Curt was born October 31, 1934, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Hubert Sears and Lucille Sears-Lipps. He was a 32nd. Degree Mason, a member of the Decatur Shrine Club, Elks, Moose, Eagles, and Clinton Country Club. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Korean Veterans Association. Curt served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was an active member of the YMCA both in Decatur, Illinois and Sarasota, Florida. Curt was a lifetime Honorary Member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association.
Curt retired as President of Burks Pumps Incorporated and was a past director of the Illinois Manufacturer’s Association. After retirement, he served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Prodo-Pak Corporation. He attended University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Curt was a generous contributor to many charities in both Illinois and Florida. Curt’s heart was always filled with happiness to be able to lend a helping hand to others. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all those who saw his light.
Surviving Curt is his loving family; his loving wife Patricia of 43 years, son Timothy Tammy of Memphis, Tennessee, daughter; Amy Jean Doran James, Bonney Lake, Washington; grandchildren, Stephanie Marchal David of McKinney, Texas, Jennifer Vallier Bryan and Timothy D. Sears of Decatur, Illinois, step-grandchildren Joshua Wilson of Alexander, Illinois, Ashley Doran of Bonney Lake, Washington and Christian Doran of Las Vegas, Nevada and five great-grandchildren. His sisters, Reba Ranke Arthur and Donna Keith Harold of Hamilton, Ohio and Shirley Hanes Leon of Hillsboro, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews also survive Curt. Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Willard.
