Daniel E. Shafer's Obituary
Decatur – Daniel E. Shafer of Decatur passed away surrounded by his family on May 6th, 2024.
A Celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM, May 17th, 2024, at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe Street Decatur, IL.
Dan was born in Decatur on February 23, 1963. The son of Charles (Butch) Shafer and Donna (LeVeck) Shafer. He went to Lakeview High School and later obtained his GED. He was a welder and assembler by trade and a member of the UAW Local 751 Laborers Union. He is survived and lovingly remembered by brother Curt Shafer of Decatur, daughter Abby and her wife Kaley Lohse of Decatur, son Colin Fair of Decatur, son Matthew Fair of Decatur, granddaughter Victoria Fair of Decatur, mother of children and best friend Janet Fair of Decatur, along with aunts, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. He was proceeded in death by his parents Charles (Butch) and Donna (LeVeck) Shafer, brothers Robert (Bobby) Shafer and Frank Shafer. Throughout his short battle with cancer, his sense of humor and strong will never lessened. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family of Dan Shafer would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the amazing care and effort given by Dr. Ontiveros and staff of Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois.
