Darlene Joan German's Obituary
Darlene Joan German, née Renfro, age 74, of Decatur, IL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 6, 2026. She was surrounded by those who loved her. Darlene was born on July 27, 1951, in Decatur, IL, daughter of Walter William “Bill” Renfro and Mona “Fae” Renfro.
Darlene was affiliated with Maranatha Assembly of God. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in 1969. She worked in various positions in her younger years including TV Tom’s and Illinois Power and was a homemaker and caregiver in her later years. She married Douglas E. German on March 1,1991, at Maranatha Assembly of God. Darlene was a devoted mother, wife, and friend. She is remembered as a kind and generous person with a bubbly personality and happy spirit, always willing to help others. She especially enjoyed feeding birds and caring for her many dogs and cats over the years.
Darlene is survived by her son, Daniel Parker, Jr., brother Donald Renfro, two stepsons, one stepdaughter, six step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gary Renfro and James Renfro, and husband Douglas German.
A special word of gratitude goes to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Fair Havens Senior Living and Decatur Memorial Hospital. A service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St., Decatur, IL, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
