Darrell Morris Deem's Obituary
Darrell Morris Deem, 87, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Darrell was born on February 2, 1930 in Decatur, Illinois, the son of George William and Elsie Edith (Stogsdill) Deem. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Darrell was an over the rode driver for Lovelace Trucking and then Schneider Transport retiring with over fifty years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and World War II history. Darrell married Dorothy Hinton on March 30, 1949. They shared over sixty-eight years together.
Surviving is his wife Dorothy, children Darrell (Priscilla) Deem, Dorothy (Gary) Ruff, and Todd Deem, six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren .
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Tim Deem, one brother, and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Darrell’s life will be 1:00 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 407 E Eldorado St, Decatur, with Rev. John Burnette, celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Long Point Cemetery in Niantic.
