I was extremely sad to hear about Dave’s passing. We worked together at JCPenney for a few years and we kept in touch with him and Jeannine throughout the years. Dave was one of the nicest, most personable people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I always looked forward to the days when our schedules aligned. Along with learning sayings like “everything we have is either on sale or for sale” and local trivia like Pana, IL being known as the “City of Roses”, I had the honor of becoming friends with a man who dedicated himself to the service of his faith, his family and his country. Every time I think of Dave, I think of the work he did to give back to his community. From spreading the word online about a contest to win the Civic Center skating rink upgrades in a “Hockeyville, USA” contest to his tireless work for the local veterans, Dave always seemed to be thinking of others. I know he will be missed by the family and friends who knew him the best, but also those whose lives he impacted briefly but importantly. One of these interactions again brought Dave into our lives when he performed the Honor Guard ceremony at my wife’s grandfather’s funeral services. I hope he knew how much it meant to the family to have him there. My heart is with Dave’s family at this challenging time.
