David Aris Rockwood's Obituary
David Aris Rockwood, (64), of Neoga, IL, passed away peacefully on February 11th, 2024, at 2:15 pm at Mattoon Healthcare, Mattoon IL surrounded by his family. David was born April 23rd, 1959, in Effingham Illinois.
Dave is survived by his mother Carolyn Settles of Mattoon, his stepson Christopher (Athena) Moffitt, grandchildren Dylan Moffitt & Savannah Moffit of Arkansas, His daughter Jessica (Samuel) Blodgett, grandchildren Benjamin Blodgett & Julie Blodgett of Virginia, His brother Albert Rockwood of Mattoon IL, Stepbrother Gary (Jan) Settles of Missouri, sisters; Ginny (Larry) Cowell, of Mattoon, IL, Marilda (Ross) Eadie of Mattoon, IL, stepsister Roxanna Rockwood of Indiana. Nephews, Scott Price, James (Stephanie) Lamon, John Lamon, Devon Slifer & nieces, Zoey Rockwood, Lexus Rockwood, Reba (Rick) Giroux & great-nieces and nephew & his much loved cousins that he grew up with. Dave was a proud US Veteran who joined the Army in 1976, re-enlisted and was Honorably discharged in 1981. He was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan and He rooted for the K.C. Chiefs to win the Super Bowl this year. He was an avid Trump supporter and loved to debate politics if you started it! He was an outdoorsman who you could find sitting out on the deck or the floating dock fishing & having conversations with God. He loved hunting, target shooting or planting & growing his garden. He was the kind of man who was comfortable in his own silence and country backwoods living was the life for him. Per Dave's wishes, the family is planning a private graveside gathering in his favorite month of April. Otherwise, he jokingly said that he would be renewing his driver's license whichever came first. David will be missed and never forgotten by so very many.
He is preceded in death by his father Henry David Rockwood, stepfather Donald Settles, infant son, David Aris Rockwood, younger brother Henry David Rockwood, stepbrother Bobby Taylor, brother-in-law David Slifer, grandparents Marilda Altha & Ralph Rockwood & his dog Dammit.
