David R. Thatcher's Obituary
Decatur – David R. Thatcher, 92, of Macon, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
David was born June 30, 1922 in Decatur, the son of Chester and Mayme (Evans) Thatcher. A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, David worked as a purchasing agent for Boland Electrical Supply until retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of WWII and Korean War, a member of Knights of Columbus Council #577, Golden K, DMH Auxiliary and American Legion. He married Margaret L. Boland July 6, 1946 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret and daughter, Susan (husband, Jerry) Gallagher of Macon; grandchildren: Kelli (Kirk) Viehl and Michelle Johnson; great grandchildren: Logan Gallagher and Boman and Maxton Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Rozanski and brother Quentin Thatcher.
Visitation will be Monday, October 13, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m., Rev. Nicolas Husain, celebrant. Burial will take place Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorial gifts may be made to the Macon County Honor Guard.
