David Gerard Thompson's Obituary
David G. Thompson, 50, of Decatur, died Saturday, April 18, 2009.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 23 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, with Rev. Rick Weltin, Celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior in the church. Visitation will also be 5 – 7 pm Wednesday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, with a Vigil Prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
David was born June 4, 1958 in Decatur, son of William E. and Virginia T. Keck Thompson. He worked as an auditor for Caterpillar. David had a special love for helping developmentally disabled children. He was an active volunteer for the Special Olympics. David was a friend of Jimmy K. He was also member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
Surviving are his parents, William and Virginia of Decatur; one brother, William wife, Christine Thompson of Kansas; four sisters, Sharon husband, Robert Suttles of Texas; Mary Thompson; Gerianne Thompson; Teresa husband, Charles Brawner, all of Decatur; nine nieces and nephews, Jesse; William; Dustin; Courteney; Meredith; Veronica; Lorilyn; Angelica; Katie; great niece, Ciara; great nephew, Jesse; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friend, Ruth.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Thompson.
