David Lee Vording's Obituary
Decatur- David Vording, 69, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 in McKinley Court Nursing Home.
David was born July 2, 1945 in Decatur, IL., the son of James Edger and Violet Mae (Decrevel) Vording. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Methodist Church when he was a child. David was the Fire Chief of South Wheatland Fire Department serving over 30 years of service. He also worked for Staley’s for fifteen years, and was self-employed, owner of D & G Premiere Designs, and Create –A-Craft for thirty years. He married Gloria Jean Allen on July 10, 1965 in Decatur. They shared forty-nine years together. He was a member of the Decatur Aero Club, and South Wheatland Fire Department. He enjoyed flying, science graphics, auto graphics, and family.
Surviving are his wife Gloria Jean Vording of Decatur, daughter Linda Beiler of Decatur; mother Violet Vording of Decatur; sister Diana Puckett of Decatur; grandchildren Shelby, Jessica, Jared, and Jaden.
He was preceded in death by his father James Vording, daughter Debra Sue (Vording) Klaus, and son-in-law Larry Klaus.
Services celebrating David’s life will be 11am, Monday, December 29, 2014 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the C/O Gloria Vording.
