Dawn Kay Brosamer's Obituary
Dawn Brosamer, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on July 27, 1964, to Darlene and Phillip Bohlen, Dawn grew up with a bright spirit and a gift for communication that would shape her life and touch the hearts of many. She was preceded in death by her father, Phillip, in 2021.
A proud graduate of Macon High School, Class of 1983, Dawn went on to earn her degree in Communications from Southern Illinois University in 1989. Her love of conversation and connection was evident to all who knew her – she truly never met a stranger.
Dawn was the devoted wife of Peter Brosamer and loving mother to Paxton (26). She cherished her role as a longtime employee of Ss. James and Patrick Parish, where she found joy in watching preschoolers grow up to be young adults.
Known for her gentle nature and unwavering kindness, Dawn never spoke ill of anyone. She had a deep appreciation for flowers, a fondness for watching thunderstorms from the safety of her covered porch, and a passion for cooking – though she always said baking wasn’t her thing.
Dawn’s legacy is one of compassion, grace, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, where family and friends will be invited to celebrate Dawn’s life and share memories.
