Debra Renee Palmer, 53, of Decatur passed away at 1:08 pm on January 1, 2010 in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL
Debra was born on December 14, 1956 the daughter of Richard Dale Wheeler and Marcia Lee Crawford. She married Jeffrey E. Patterson later divorced. She married a second time to Kevin L. Palmer later divorced. She was a daughter, sister, mother and friend to many. She was an avid Elvis fan, she enjoyed roller skating and water skiing, she also enjoyed puzzle books and bingo with family. She was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a young adult.
She is survived by son, Jason Jeffrey Patterson fiancÃ?¯Ã?¿Ã?½e Nicole Andrews and grandson, Jayce of Avon, IN; son, Richard James Patterson and friend Brandy Travelstead grandchildren, Jordan Megan, Allison, Jeramiah, Jaylynn, Brooklyn all of Forsyth, IL; daughter, Nicole Len Wheeler and grandchildren Vanessa, Justin and Nicolas all of Decatur, IL.
She also leaves behind a sister, Lori Walton Brad Springfield, IL; John Crawford Sue of Casey, IL; Scott Crawford of Centralia, IL; and Richard Teresa Crawford of Decatur, IL; grandfather, Herman Melhorn of Decatur, IL; mother-in-law, Carolyn Lawrence, and family, Jerry & Debbie, Jimmy and Chris, Tommy Palmer.
Debra also leaves behind a stepmother, JoAnn Wheeler and step-brothers, Roger, Roy and Ronnie and step-sister, Rene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Albert LaRue Wheeler, grandparents, Margaret Lucille Melhorn and Albert and Nova Blue.
There are many aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins from both sides of the family to many to name but know that Debra was fond of all. Family was important to her.
Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Tuesday January 5, 2009 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park at a later date.
