Delbert Jess Sims' Obituary
Delbert Jess Sims 86 of Decatur, IL died at 6:10 am Saturday March 6, 2004 in his home.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday March 9, 2004 in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Inter Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. There will be no visitation. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.moranandgoebel.com.
Delbert was born on November 20, 1917 in Blackwell, OK the son of George Franklin and LaVada Goff Sims. He served in the U.S. Navy on LST 638 in the South Pacific in WWII. He worked for Nickelplate Rail Road and as a Security Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Doris, daughter, Helen V. Imes and husband Ron of Peoria, IL; brother, Billy R. Sims and wife Doris of Herrick, IL; sisters, Nelda P. Auvil and husband John of Decatur, IL; Genell Black and husband Sheldon of Tower Hill, IL; one granddaughter, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister, and two daughters.
