Decatur-DelmarN. Jackson, 88, of Decatur, passed away 11:24 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral liturgy to celebrate Delmar's life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Mt. Gilead Cemetery with military honors and Flight Home Ceremony. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Holy Family School
Delmar was born September 15, 1923 in Decatur, the son of Gussie Schultz. He married Betty Dieckhoff on October 3, 1953 in Decatur. Delmar proudly served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force Reserve and retired as a Major. He was a Police Record Supervisor for the city of Decatur and retired in 1988.
He leaves behind his sons, Scott M. Jackson of Bolingbrook and Richard W. Jackson of Decatur, daughter, Barbara A. (Dennis) Whitsel of Decatur; grandchildren, Sara Jackson, Ryan (Marcia) Pembroke, Keith, Carol and Michael Whitsel, Stacey and Adam Caraway; great-grandchildren, Dalton and Sophia Guadagno and Madison Mohr and many other loving family and friends.
Delmar was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty and sister Virginia Messing; brothers Edward Jackson and Donald E. Jackson.
