Denise A. Johnson's Obituary
Denise Annette (“Chit Chit”) Russell Johnson, 57, of Brownsville, TN departed this life on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana in the presence of her loved ones.
Denise was born on March 4, 1964 in Brownsville, Tennessee, the daughter of Eddie Pearl Whitfield and Earl Thomas Graves. Denise was joined in Holy Matrimony to Robert Joseph Johnson on August 14, 1997.
Denise leaves to cherish her memories, her mother Eddie Pearl Whitfield; daughters: Shakila Jackson and Shandra (Rozelle) Buckner; son Shaivelle Johnson; grandchildren: Raykeyzion Palmer, Marlita Russell, Majayla Jackson, Lamont Jackson, Jr; Javier Jackson, Syneria Johnson, Quaniah Bass, Devrion Young, Lanay Walls, and Audrianna Johnson; great-grandchild: Abrielle Lee; brothers: Melvin Graves, Earl Graves, Marcus Graves, Thomas Graves, Marvell Yanders (Von); sisters: Marlita Crowder (Alex), Shanette Goff, and Igentry Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Denise was preceded in death by her husband Robert Joseph Johnson, her father Earl Thomas Graves, Sr, stepfather Marvin G. Whitfield, uncle Larry Graves, grandson Tynerrious Roundtree, two sisters-in-law, five uncles, one aunt and her grandparents.
Denise graduated from Dwight D. Eisenhower High School. She was an all-around athlete. She was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked for Visiting Nurses, Eastern Star Home, Fair Havens and Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was also a foster mom.
Denise was a very loving and caring person. Her smile was infectious a smile that would make others smile. She was a devoted daughter,sister,wife,mother and grandmother. She was truly loved by her family and friends. Denise will be deeply missed but not forgotten, her love will be forever dear in our hearts..
Homegoing services to celebrate Denise’s life will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be held from 12:00 –1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Denise will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur, IL. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Eddie Pearl Whitfield or Shakila Jackson.
