Diana Elaine Brumleve's Obituary
Diana Elaine Brumleve, 71, peacefully went to celebrate eternal life on Friday, December 16, 2022. Diana was given to us on September 23, 1951, parented by Gerald “Jeep” and Rita Brumleve in Effingham, IL and later raised in Decatur, IL.
She graduated from St. Teresa High School in 1969 and attended Loyola University Chicago earning her degree in Theology. Diana had a calling to the convent and was a nun with the Diocese of Springfield, IL from 1972 – 1997. She was an integral part of children’s education, teaching for 27 years, specializing in English. She later continued her education earning her Master’s in Social Work from Saint Louis University. She worked at the Women’s Correctional Center in Decatur, IL as a mental health professional for 19 years. Diana was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, just like her late father.
Diana is survived by her brothers, Doug of Decatur (Velma); Bruce wife Becki of Dewitt; and Mark wife Patti of Decatur.
Diana took pride and gave tremendous love to her nieces, nephews, and (great nieces and nephews): Rachael and Jessica of Chicago; Rebekah husband Frederik (William and Max) of Selah, WA, Michael wife Heather (Payton, Gibson, Everly, Amara) of Cedar Park, TX; Sam of Dewitt; Clint, Chet wife Heidi of Decatur, Lena husband Garrett and Sarah husband Jayson of Mahomet, Shane, and Rylie of Decatur. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents and great nephew, Nathan. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, https://donate3.cancer.org/. Visitation will be Thursday, December 29th from 9:00-10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. Decatur, IL 62526; with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00am. Burial will be at Boiling Springs Cemetery to follow.
