Dixie June Govro's Obituary
Dixie June Govro, 95, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away April 13, 2026, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Dixie June was born in Pettis County, Missouri, on June 9, 1930, the daughter of Ralph J. and Erma Lee (McMahon) Thomas. She married William E. Govro on September 4, 1955, in Columbia, Missouri, and together they raised three children. She was a faithful member of Central Christian Church and participated in Church Women United and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She shared her musical talent as a member of the violin section of the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra for 20 years. She was an enthusiastic school volunteer, where she served as Room Mother for many years. She belonged to the Decatur Quilt Guild, ABWA, and Project Linus. Her greatest passions were her family, feeding people, sewing, crocheting, and traveling.
Dixie June is survived by her children Patricia Billiot, Edward (Penny) Govro, and Linda (Thomas) Little; grandchildren Jennifer (Timothy) May, Zachary Little, Amy (Darren) Winchester, Benjamin (Lindsey) Little, Matthew (Allison) DeCosse, Hannah (Aaron) George, Crystal Morrison, and Mickey Tate; many great-grandchildren; and a few great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law Mel Billiot.
Funeral services for Dixie June will be held on Monday, April 20, at Central Christian Church in Decatur. Visitation will begin at 11am and will be followed by a funeral service at 12pm. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery will follow the service. Memorials may be directed to Central Christian Church or to Dementia Friendly Decatur.
