Dolores O. Oliver's Obituary
Dolores O. Oliver, 84, of Decatur, died on Monday, May 29, 2006 in Fairhavens Christian Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm Wed. May 31, 2006 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, Rev. Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery.
Dolores was born on October 11, 1921 in Spain, the daughter of Jose and Dolores Ortiz. She resided in Casablanca, North Africa until 1946. She worked as a young woman in the PX in Casablanca where she met her husband Junior R. Oliver, who was an MP. They married in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1993. Dolores had the privilege of meeting Dwight D. Eisenhower and Humphrey Bogart, who was in Casablanca filming the movie "Casablanca." Dolores was a homemaker whose favorite hobby was shopping.
Surviving are her children, Robert wife, Sandra Ortiz of Lakeland, FL; Richard S. wife, Mary Oliver and Larry J. wife, Diana Oliver all of Decatur; Terry L. Oliver of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The family of Dolores Oliver is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur.
