Don Robinson's Obituary
DECATUR- Don L. “Robbie” Robinson, 76, of Decatur died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lincolnshire Place.
Don was born May 3, 1940 and raised in Mt. Carmel, IL, the son of Fred and Odessa Robinson and was the oldest of three boys.
He married Joyce Chalden in 1970 in Monmouth, IL and together they raised her three children.
Don graduated in 1962 from Rose Polytechnic Institute (now Rose-Hulman) as an electrical engineer and spent his 38-year career with Illinois Power Company, retiring in Decatur.
Don lived his life selflessly and gave his time, talent and leadership to several organizations including Decatur Youth Hockey Association, Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity, Decatur Celebration, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and Parkinson’s Support Group. He was loved and admired by many friends and colleagues.
Honoring Don’s wishes, his body was donated for medical research followed by cremation. No life celebration event is planned at this time. Please feel free to honor Don’s memory with a donation or by volunteering at a charity of your choice or at one of the organizations he tirelessly served.
The family wishes to thank Lincolnshire Place staff and Safe Haven Hospice for their loving care during Don’s last year.
Surviving are his wife Joyce; two brothers Rex (Beverly) Robinson, Gary (Vicki) Robinson; sister-in-law Jacqueline Didier; three children Julie (David) Evans, Jon (Shannon) Chalden, and Jordan Chalden; and five grandchildren plus loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
