Donald K. "Don" Hyland's Obituary
Decatur – Donald K. “Don” Hyland, 92, of Decatur, formerly of Mt. Zion, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
Don was born on June 14, 1933, the son of Fred and Goldie Ferne (Broughton) Hyland. He was a farmer in the Mt. Zion area for 40 years. After retirement Don worked as a funeral director’s assistant at Graceland/Fairlawn and Moran & Goebel Funeral Homes for many years. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church, Mt. Zion’s Lions Club, Bethany Masonic Lodge #884, Ansar Temple of Springfield, Valley of Springfield Scottish Rite, Decatur Shrine Club, Macon County Farm Bureau, former Mt. Zion Township Trustee for 22 years, Mt. Zion District Library Board for 8 years, life member of IOOF #300, former board member of Cornbelt FS and Crime Stoppers Boards, and Macon County Ag Extension. Don married Lou Ellen Harris on August 28, 1953, in Decatur.
Don is survived by his wife Lou of Decatur, and daughter Lisa (Randy Wiley) Hyland of Mt. Zion.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 10 am until the service time of 11 am at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Township Cemetery, Mt. Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Library or Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.
