Donald L. Uhll's Obituary
Donald L. Uhll, 78, of Decatur, died Friday, March 20, 2009 in Decatur.
Donald was born July 17, 1930, in Decatur, the son of Curtis and Alice Yocum Uhll. A U.S Army veteran of the Korean War, Donald worked as a mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of First Christian Church, N.A.R.F.E., life member of V.F.W. Post #99 and a member of the Military Order of the Cooties. Donald married Barbara D. Shonkwiler March 25, 1955 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 54 years, Barbara of Decatur; children: Mary husband, Phillip Short of Decatur, Curtis wife, Diane Uhll of Zion and Larry Uhll of Decatur; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sister, Barbara husband, William “Boots” Burgess of Decatur; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service: 2 pm, Tuesday, March 24, 2009 in the funeral home. Interment will be in Hall Cemetery, Blue Mound with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials: V.F.W. Post #99.
