Donna J. Osman's Obituary
Donna J. Osman (Sapp), 84 of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Donna was born August 21, 1938 in Decatur, the daughter of Woodrow W. and Ella Louise (Bilyeu) Sapp. She attended Decatur High School and married Larry L. Osman in February 1958.
Donna loved country music and her favorite artists were George Jones and Elvis. Years ago, her daughters and grandson took her to see George Jones, front row - center stage, and it was a joy for her family to see the excitement and smile on her face. Donna was feisty, funny, quick-witted, stubborn, and was always honest. A “tell it like it is” type of gal. She had a “look” that she would give and you knew then you had better straighten up. It always worked! That “look” was passed down to her daughters and granddaughter. Donna was a sharp dressed woman, had to have every strand of hair in place at all times, and she always wore and had to have her favorite lipstick and pouch in hand. She didn’t even need a mirror to apply. Donna loved flowers, the companionship of her dogs that she had over the years, and just simply being at home. She also loved an occasional ride in her 1991 Chevy Camaro. She was a determined soul and the inner strength she had was undeniable and courageous. Donna endured a long life of pain and discomfort due to a brain aneurism she had when she was 42, and bravely navigated widowhood after the love of her life Larry died in 1987. She was an inspiration and will be dearly missed.
Donna is survived by her brother Jerry Sapp (Lynn) from Decatur, daughters Terrie Brandon (Bobby) and Jody Osman (John Gambrill) both of Decatur. A special sister-in-law that became a daughter Sis Scoggins (Osman), Grandchildren Chad Osman (Erin), Bobby Brandon (KD), and Krista Bradshaw (Kyle), and seven great- grandchildren and 4 great-great –grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many other extended family.
Her husband, parents, and brothers, Woodrow W. Sapp Jr., Tommy Sapp preceded her in death.
Services will be held on April 24, 2023, at 12:00 PM with a visitation an hour prior at Moran and Goebel Funeral Home.
