Doris Mae Cooley's Obituary
Doris Mae Foster Cooley, 82, of Decatur, died peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, August 11, 2008 in Decatur.
A practitioner of unconditional love, Doris was born June 30, 1926, in Decatur, the daughter of John and Catherine Brown Foster. She was a member of the National Cadet Corps during WWII and worked as a Registered Nurse/Head Nurse of surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital for 30 years retiring in 1983. She married Robert E. Cooley and he preceded her in death on September 27, 2004.
She is survived by her children: Dan Paula Cooley of Dalton City, Stephen Cooley of Decatur and Cheryl Ron Heitz of Forsyth; brothers: George Suzanne Foster of Macomb and Jack Jan Foster of Tennessee; sisters: Dorothy Bill Sanner of Decatur and Janet K. Beck of Boody; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Jim Foster.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Memorial service will be 10 am, Friday, August 15, 2008 in the funeral home chapel. Interment: Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts to be directed to the Doris Mae Cooley Nursing Scholarship Fund.
