Doris Imogene Grove's Obituary
Grove, Doris I (Kelly, Betzer, Stewart) passed away September 3, 2022 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL at the age of 92.
Funeral services will be handled by Moran and Goebel Funeral Home.
Doris was born on January 19, 1930 in Joliet, IL to John and Marie (Ward) Kelly. Doris was the oldest of 7.
She worked many years as a waitress, then worked in the factory at GE. Her last job was as a cook at the Milliken National Bank where she retired in the early 90’s. She was a great cook and loved preparing food for family get-togethers, then playing cards. In the younger days, she loved dancing, traveling, fishing and always took pride in a very clean home. Once dementia set in, her one joy was playing the slots. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and for years took communion to the hospitals and nursing homes.
Doris is survived by her son, Stephen Stewart and friend Connie of Decatur; daughter Lois Stewart (Friend, Art) of Ojai, CA; brothers, Ray and Frani Kelly of WI, Paul and Patty Kelly of Chillicothe, IL, and daughter-in-law, Linda Stewart of Mt. Zion; 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Stewart, Beverly Stewart, Ruth Alice Gibson all of Decatur, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, first husband, Frances Albert Stewart; second husband, Floyd W. Grove; son, Robert Craig Stewart; son-in-law, Douglas Gordy; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Marie Stewart, and 3 sisters.
Services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Holy family Catholic Church From 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
