Dorothy Bollinger's Obituary
Dorothy Pearl Higbie Bollinger, a woman of small stature with a larger than life spirit received her wings and halo on Tuesday morning October 25, 2011.
A visitation in her honor will be held from Noon to1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, and a graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2001 at Hall Cemetery in Blue Mound.
Mrs. Bollinger was born on November 10, 1917 in Lawrenceville, Ill. She was the daughter of Charles and Arrah Higbie, and foster daughter of Mrs. Anna Read of Eldorado, Ill. She married Glen Bollinger of Blue Mound, Ill on June 19, 1967. She was a nurse’s aide at Olney Hospital in Olney, Ill and St. Vincent’s Hospital in Taylorville, Ill. However, the “job” she was most proud of was that of being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mrs. Bollinger was a member of Daughters of the American Colonists, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved animals, gardening, cooking, and creating gorgeous quilts by hand. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, generosity, love, loyalty, and perseverance. Our Dorothy was a shining example of Christianity and she was proud of her faith as a Primitive Baptist.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Kathy Russ of Elwin, Ill, grandsons Sean Crockett of Decatur, Ill, and Lucas Betsy Crockett of Mt. Zion, Ill, great grandchildren Eli and Cailyn Crockett of Mt. Zion, Ill, sister, Loretta Baum of Bozeman Montana, and many nieces and nephews.
Meeting her in Heaven are her brothers Donald, Wilbur, Joseph, and Kenneth, sisters, Frances, Mary Jane, and Freda, as well as her husband, Glen, and several beloved pets. The family would like to thank all of the nurses from DMH Palliative Care.
The family of Dorothy is being served by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.moranandgoebel.com.
