Dorothy Mae Brassfield, age 77, of Decatur went to be with the Lord at 7:00 pm Saturday March 27, 2004, in her daughter's home.
Homegoing Memorial Service will be 6 pm Wednesday, March 31, 2004, in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Gude officiating where visitation will be one hour before services. Dorothy was born in Decatur, on April 09, 1926, the daughter of Howell and Bertha Mae Tyus Taylor. Dorothy worked at the Ambassador Hotel for over 28 years, retiring from there when they closed in 1992. Dorothy married James L. Brassfield in Decatur, on July 3, 1971; he preceded her in death in 1998.
Dorothy leaves behind not to mourn, but to cherish fond memories, including her daughter Sabrina Moss whom Dorothy lived with during her illness step-daughter Paula Brassfield of Decatur; son, Archie Moss and wife Landa of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers, Jerry Taylor and wife Ollie of Decatur, Illinois; sisters Lucille Spence of Decatur, Illinois and Charlotte Teague and husband Calvin of St. Louis, Missouri. Special cousin, Emily Rhymes of Decatur; grandchildren, Dorthea Brown and husband Dewayne of Decatur, Illinois; A.J. Moss of Bloomington, Illinois, great grandchildren, Ta`Brina Eskridge, Charles Reed, Jr, Twyla Wiley.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by here father and 3 brothers.
The family of Dorothy would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hospice and Dr. James Wade and his staff for the compassionate care and concern given to Dorothy during her illness.
