Dorothy Garfoot's Obituary
Dorothy E. Garfoot, 98, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at McKinley Court.
Dorothy was born March 23, 1919, in Jerseyville, IL, to Mathias and Elizabeth (Wylder) Heneghan. She married Floyd J. Garfoot on October 26, 1939, in Decatur. He passed away March 8, 2005. Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Altar Society, Confraternity and Quilting Club. She loved traveling, reading, sewing, and baking. She was the family photographer and historian and the last to leave a family gathering.
Dorothy was a treasured aunt to 30+ nieces and nephews, always sending them birthday cards. She also had many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; six brothers and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Weltin as celebrant. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
