Dorothy Klein Mickey's Obituary
Dorothy Klein Mickey, 86, formerly of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Schaumburg, IL.
Dorothy was born June 9, 1924 in Assumption, IL, the daughter of Nellie L. Beyers and John H. Klein. After growing up in Assumption, Rosamond, and Pana, IL, she married Joseph B. Mickey on June 26, 1948 in Pana, IL. After marriage, she and Joe moved to Decatur, IL where they lived for 60 years.
Dorothy was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Decatur, a 50-year member of the St. Elizabeth Society and a member of the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active volunteer for St. James School and Church as well as an active volunteer and supporter of all her sons’ activities.
She was the beloved wife of Joseph, loving mother of Mark Mary of Naperville, IL, Dennis Margaret of Barrington, IL and Marty Janet of Arlington Heights, IL; cherished grandmother of Brian Christine Mickey of Chicago, IL, Melissa Mickey of Chicago, IL, David Melissa Mickey of Wheaton, IL, Evan Claire Mickey of Bloomington, IN, Jason Mickey of Barrington, IL, Zachary Mickey of Naperville, IL, Rachel, Hannah, and Joseph Mickey of Arlington Heights, IL and proud great-grandmother of Olivia Mickey of Chicago, IL; dear sister of Virginia Robert Kuhn of Oconee, IL and LaVeta the late James Becker of Lee’s Summit, MO; caring sister-in-law of Donna Klein of Pana, IL and Lorraine Klein of Ohlman, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Irene the late Harold Wolf and brothers John and Kenneth Klein.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; vigil prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Dorothy’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 in St. James Catholic Church, Decatur, IL, Rev Jeff Grant celebrant. Entombment will follow in Mary Queen of Angels Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery.
