Dorothy Rade's Obituary
Dorothy Rade, 90, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018 in her sleep at her residence, exactly the way that she had prayed for.
Dorothy and her husband Walter were instrumental in founding Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in their home and attended the church for many years. Dorothy was currently attending Galilee Baptist Church.
She was famous for her potato pancakes with cottage cheese, plotz and her Halloween popcorn balls. Her family was everything to her but the most important thing to her was her walk with Christ. She prayed every morning for over an hour for her entire family. She was a true self-sacrificing mother.
Dorothy leaves behind to cherish her precious memories, five children. One son, Mark (Rhonda) Rade of Oreana, IL: four daughters, Sandy (Larry) Jacobs of Cerro Gordo, IL, Martha (Doug) Dalton of Oreana, IL, Kathy (Tony) Ditty of Decatur, IL and Dawna Wilkerson of Gilbert, AZ. Sister, Mamie Cravens of Taylorville, IL and she leaves behind eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren
Greeting her in heaven are her parents, Hugh and Ellen Carry; husband, Walter Rade, whom she married on August 26, 1946 in Decatur, IL; granddaughter, Anna Wilkerson and several brother and sisters.
A funeral to honor Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday, August 17th, 2018 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home at 11 AM with a visitation being held an hour prior at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
