Dorothy Marie Sebok's Obituary
Dorothy Sebok, 84, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away December 7, 2023, in her home, surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born in Decatur on September 13, 1939, the daughter of Burton and Anne (Prevedell) Bills. She married Julius Sebok on July 1, 1961, and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years together until his death in 2016.
Dorothy was a graduate of the University of Illinois. She was employed for over 30 years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, where she worked in the business office and medical records. She was a woman who served the Lord, her family, and her community. She was a faithful member of Ss. James and Patrick Parish, where she served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at Masses and for the homebound. She was a member of LLQA, St. Mary’s Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, Knights of Columbus Ladies’ Auxiliary, and the Quilt Guild. Her quilting talent was legendary, and she earned several ribbons for her skill. She generously donated numerous quilts to local charities, as well as making Linus blankets and Christmas stockings for soldiers. When she wasn’t quilting, she loved gardening, baking, and most of all her precious family.
Dorothy is survived by her children Eric (Missy) Sebok of Alpharetta, GA and Elizabeth (John Apperson) Sebok of Decatur; grandchildren Ashton, Ethan, and Emme; great-grandchildren Aryanna, Trinity, Casey, and Aspen; sister Diane Thomas and family; and many beloved cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Julius, her parents, and her brother Burton Bills.
