Dorothy E. Smethers' Obituary
Dorothy E. Smethers 83 of Decatur died Friday April 29, 2005 in her home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday May 3, 2005 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church with Father James O'Shea as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or St. Teresa Catholic High School. Dorothy was born August 11, 1921 in Mt. Vernon the daughter of Harold and Flora Yearwood Conder. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a life member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Macon County Historical Society and a Volunteer for the Millikin Homestead. She married Joseph C. Smethers on April 22, 1946 in St. Patrick Catholic Church of Decatur he preceded her in death on February 6, 1980.
Surviving are her sons, David Smethers and wife Kathleen of Eagle, ID; Philip Smethers of Knoxville, IA; daughters, Ann Nahm of Arnold, MO; Elizabeth Demboski and husband Mark of Bloomington, IL; sisters, Helen R. Lutes and husband Robert of Mountain Home, AR; Faye Harlow of West Palm Beach, FL; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
