Dorthia Turnbo, 91, of Springfield, died on Saturday, July 30, 2005 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
Funeral Services celebrating her life will be 11 a.m. Wed. Aug 3, 2005 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, Rev. Tom Christell and Rev. Juli Lejman-Guy officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Decatur Public Library or Grace Lutheran Church, Springfield IL.
Mrs. Turnbo was born on June 05, 1914 in Bolivia, IL. near Mt. Auburn the daughter of Charles Thomas and Ida Mae Fry Toles. She was employed by the Decatur Public Library for 22 Ã?½ years. After retiring, she was a volunteer with IRS-VITA for eleven years. She was a certified Ombudsman member, a lifetime member of Friends of the North Park Library in San Diego, CA. and a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield. Dorthia married John L. Turnbo in Chicago in 1933 and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughters: Honeylee husband Ottis Livingston of Decatur; April husband Leonard McCombs of Los Angeles, CA. and Linda C. Kauffman of Springfield; sons: Lynn wife Ulku Turnbo of Decatur and Milo Turnbo of Long Beach, CA; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
